Hello everyone!
My name is Krista Yob....lots of people call me Kay, or Kaori (My japanese name from when I took classes) Haha....call me what ever you want! I am 22 from Easton Pennsylvania
So....back in 2007 when I went into the DMV to take my permit test, I saw a car that said student driver on it. I was immediately taken in by the shape of it...it was perfect, not boxy, nicely curved and BLUE my favorite color. I asked my dad what it was, he said it was the Scion xA. From that moment on I wanted one.
We went to a car dealer to pick out a car for me. I had put word in and searched around for a used Scion xA but they were unheard of...I wound up coming home with the biggest mistake I ever made. A 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, for 10,000. I had money put aside from my grandfather's inheritance so the car was paid off right away, for the first...year we were great, drove to Pittsburgh a few times and did well.
A manager at work when I first got the car looked at me and said "Just wait till you get to 120,000 miles...." From that moment on. I swear he cursed me!
At exactly 119,933 miles....my transmission blew. We paid 6,000 in repairs and got it back on the road. A few months later....the turbo system went out (it was a 1.8t) Next we wound up with the oil pump needing replacement, then the water pump, then vacuum hoses....pretty much everything under the sun!
We had already paid DOUBLE what we paid for the car in repairs by 2011.
Last week a car dealer near me Brown Daub Kia was having a huge sale. Due to a retirement. I went with my dad just to check it out...and there it was. A Nautical Metallic Blue 2008 Scion xD with 51,000 miles on it. I had seen the xD's before and loved them just as much as the xA when I saw it. I immediately wrote down the number I needed for the stock, and went the next day. I test drove it and instantly loved it. Needless to say...after gaining 5,000 dollars towards it from the Jetta trade in (The Jetta was at 99,000 when I got it and traded in at 141,000) The blue Scion xD came home with me that day! I absolutely love the car! Everything about it.....well there is one thing that I miss....the sun roof. I know they can be installed but I don't want to mess it up.
The only issue I have right now is that it is VERY scratched up! But hopefully I'll be able to buff some out and I bought a bottle of touch up paint. So here we go!
Just a quick question for starters....does anyone know if it's normal for the engine coolant temperature (low) light to come on and stay for a few seconds when starting the car? Is that good?
PS: I have a transformers autobot symbol on the front...so my friend named the car Emoticon since xD is one hahaha.....Emoticon the Autobot...cheesy I know
