Default Back-lit hood emblem
Hey all, this is my first post on scionxdforum! I've already learned a lot about mods and the companies to trust thanks to you guys.
My question to you is the following: I've seen a couple pictures of people with a blue light behind their Scion emblem on the hood, and I was wondering how they got that effect? I have an 2011 Amazon Green Metallic xD and I just bought green cold cathodes for the interior of my car. Could someone help me out or point me in the right direction on how to do the hood backlight? Thanks!

First off welcome to the forum, I'm glad that you find this place usefull. I know exactly what your talking about when it comes to the emblem but I'm not sure how to do it or who exactly has it. Your best bet is to send them a private message and ask them personally.

I believe our front emblem is adhesive held only so if that is the case you can buy a clear badge and drill/tap an led behind it.

I got ahold of texxbox and he this is what he said.

"That was on my old first gen xB. I took the badge support off the grill, cut it out, filled it with LED's and put a frosted sheet behind the logo to diffuse it. Looked great."

Yep, make sure you either use the frosted sheet or an LED with an wide angle lens, if not you will end up with white spots.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I got ahold of TexxBox too and he said the same thing. He said he's working on something for the xD's emblem though that might not require drilling. The only problem I see with that is that people might steal it right off the hood. His xB's backlight looks really nice.

I wouldnt worry about people stealing it. Just go get some 3m emblem adhesive from autozone. That stuff does not let go for nothing! Thats what I have holding on my autobot emblem.
