mixed feelings about the "Pure Pricing" concept...but finally chose the XD over yaris (felt and drove cheap, lack of standard equipment, high price despite only slightly better MPG) & honda fit (buzzy 1.5, more performance oriented but didn't feel quite as quiet/refined as the XD, not lovin' the honda theft history).

couldn't get the gray color i wanted so settled for 2nd choice black. i'm a 30-something transitioning from midlife crisis, so ditched the manual transmission and more sporty cars. the less drama the better, so back to Toyota for the longhaul.

the modbug is inescapable for me. future plans include coilovers or spring/shocks, high performance tires and 16" wheels, some exterior cosmetics ie. smoked tails, dark tints, foglights, decals and such. sucks no CARB legal intake from AEM. will go to K&N drop filter then.

Impressions in the first week of ownership:
- what, no cruise control?
- love the headroom, simplicity of the gauges, general interior layout
- quiet, comfy ride
- 1.8 liter is peppy enuff for the Squid's needs!
- pudgy looking exterior has grown on me, like a black bullfrog
- i'm not missing the stick shift....so far.

midlife crisis at 30? already had a Porshce?

I got gray. It's okay but I like the Wasabi and brown better. not enough flake in the gray. I wouldn;t worry about CARB legal stuff really. it's just a way for California to make companies spend more money. Go to the auto parts store and do the cone filter speacial. looks good, sounds even better.

I loved the 'Pure Pricing'. I hate haggling over prices.

I thought cruise control was standard on all xDs. My '10 came with it.

ya same here... My '08 has it standard and same with my friends '09

i dont have the time to switch out non CARB parts every inspection/smog; too much effort for me. what is the cone filter special? who makes it? details, etc?

btw i found the cruise control today...= )

not sure how old you are, but 30-40 yrs old is common age for midlife crisis

. Porsche? no. even better: tuner Miata.
