will depend on offset. but you shouldnt have any problems at +20 or higher on a x8 as long as you dont go too wide on tires.

I ran 17x9.5 on my car for a long time and almost never rubbed.

my car had 16's on it at 1 point in its life. but not really low profile tires. i think i had a 205/55/16. which is what id go with, and just get a nice tire in that size like a bfgoodrich g force...

yea either trds or cut springs based on ride quality. trds ride pretty rough, and cut springs seem pretty common place in the scion world (unfortunately). does seem a little lower than trds though....
