Power Seats in an xD???

The one thing that I really wish I had in my D is power seats! I hate the fact that I can only adjust my seat forward and back...I want lumbar, recline, tilt, all that....
I was wondering if there was any way to install like a Camry, or Corolla seat, or something else into the xD? Has anyone else looked into this?

I had my car into the dealer last week for 10k service but forgot to ask...

I have not looked into it myself but would assume the corolla seats would be your best bet. I would assume the camry seats to be too large to fit in the xD

i know you'd have to find ones where the bolt holes would match up, obviously....i wish scion would at least have them as an option....

you're at a dealership, right, ted? see if the tech guys know if it's possible for the corolla seats to match up...then i'll start scavenging some junk yards!

i only want height adjustment. I'd like the seat to be roughly an inch lower

greevedogg 01-28-2010 11:29 AM

yeah jim, i want it all: up, down, forward, back, lumbar......heated/air-cond seats would be nice too!

I am at a dealership, but the techs dont know. Grab a measuring tape, and measure the bolts on the xD then you will know when you hit up a local junk yard.

You may be able to do power seat, however, you would need to get/create a wiring harness to connect to the seat you put in and add additional fusing and wiring to the car so you could actually power the power seats.

So it could be done but may not be cheap.

yeah, but i didn't think it would be any more complicated than tapping into a 12v source and grounding it somewhere....hardest part: finding a seat that fits!

You could do that in theory, but I would play safe and have its own dedicated fuse with correct amp rating. I would check the car it comes out of and see what fuse rating they have and match it. Adding a fuse and running power to the fuse from the batter isn't that much harder, but for something like adding power seats I would do it. It's not like adding lights which draw lighter extra power and taping into a 12V power source and being fine. Power seats would consume more power and you don't want to risk blowing a fuse on somthing important just to short cut and add power to have some power seats.

Just my thoguhts.

I see your point, Resolve....

Especially if one were to add heated/ac seats. And anyways, if I ever decide to actually go thru with this, I'd have my good buddy who is a auto electric wiz go thru it with me.

Thanks for the input tho!

Hey good luck with it and let us know how it works out. Kinda interested in it myself

I came across a matrix in the junk yard... I wonder if that would be close?

JDMJim 04-19-2010 11:06 AM

i found on a Prius forum that some of those guys take parts from multiple Toyota's to make the sea height adjustable and such.
