HID color temps, which do you prefer?

Looking to do HID's as my first mod and thinking about going with some 5000K's.

get 6k which is pure white... you will be very happy : )

CXTKRS1 08-13-2009 12:30 PM

Cool, I thought 5K was pure white and 6K had a hint of blue?

ibeDAMD 08-13-2009 12:44 PM

i like the 5k, I believe Ryan has 5K too and he loves them. My boyfriend has 6k and his has the hint of blue in them. Ill stick with 5k

4300 is pure light. anything over will have a tint of color. 6000k is "pure white" which has a tint of blue 8000k is blue. 30000k is pink and looks hella hot on white cars......

TheLittleDeviant 08-13-2009 02:51 PM

8000K isnt that blue, I have them and was thinking about swapping to 10,000 to get more of a blue/purple color... 4300K is a yellowish color...

I would consider pink but I know the state police would be knocking each other off the road to see who could pull me over first.

6000K is white, and 8000K is blue 10000K is blue'r. I/my wife has 8000K in her xD. They are not bright blue but when they shine on white road signs you can see the blue in them.

4300K is what most halogens are and your brightest light.

Went ahead and ordered a 5K kit, I figured if my xD is white might as well have some of the whitest head lights around.

I have 4300k, which gives the most light output. It's pure white but next to 5k will look slightly yellow.
The 5k will have just a hint of blue, 6k more blue, 8k really blue, and i think 10k+ looks purple.
The higher the k, the less visible light output.

I have 10K and have no complaints on them. I know a lot of people who have 10K around here and it's nice for open SC roads!

4300K is OEM. This is the color temp you will get when you purchase a new car with HID's. If they are in a projector housing, you will obviously see a much darker color hue due to the cutoff (only blue/purple is seen). To allow the most light output without standing out to the cops, I'd keep it between 4300 and 6000K.

They come in the package when you get them, its pretty easy though, connect the fused positive side to the positive battery terminal, ground the black wires, plug the harness into the stock bulb harness, insert bulbs in headlight, mount ballasts, turn on...
