Sway Bar

Has anyone installed the TRD rear sway bar? I did and it made a HUGE difference in the handlig!:happy107:

SciFion 06-15-2009 01:58 PM

I have not done this yet, but planning on it being one of my next additions. You said it made a big difference, can you explain that difference? My RS1 already handles good, and I 've heard the same thing from others as well, but hoping to get a detailed explanation on exactly how it feels and what it does.

rhino74s 06-15-2009 05:19 PM

Yeah, I've heard it makes a difference too. It should since there's not a stock one, lol.
Definitely on my future mods list too!

I got my sway bar installed when I bought the car from the dealer. I had test-driven an automatic xD on the lot, it did not have the sway bar on it, but after I picked up my manual with the sway, I still was able to notice a difference in handling, even though the test-drives were two weeks apart. I'm happy with mine!

We noticed a definite twisting sway in the rear when we first got the car, VERY much unlike my wife's 1st gen xB. We added the progress sway to hers and it handles REAL nice.
I bought the TRD and noticed an immediate difference in the mph I could hit some of our nice fun corners around here!:)

In short it stiffens the reay and takes away the "butt is rolling into the air" feeling. LOL

Install was a piece of cake!

xDizzle 06-23-2009 12:42 AM

yea i kno right..before i bought my car i was all into clothes and shoes and stuff but now its all about NORA lol the money i have left eventually goes in my car somehow lol

TheLittleDeviant 06-25-2009 12:15 PM

I am having my sway bar installed today, I already am running a Tanabe front upper, and that made a huge difference, hopefully the body roll will be reduced further I will be happy with the xD's cornering ability...
If it is not enough for me, then I will move onto getting a front underbrace...

a little off topic but I am also having TRD brakes installed :D

Pads only, TRD doesnt make rotors for the xD, plus mine dont need to be replaced yet...

SciFion 06-25-2009 07:24 PM

Do you know anyone who has installed the pads? Can you feel the difference, or measure the difference in distance travelled while braking?

TheLittleDeviant 06-26-2009 09:11 AM

I dont know anyone who is running the TRD brakes... but hey, if you aren't the lead dog, the scenery never changes...

SciFion 06-26-2009 11:31 AM

I like your attitude! Let us know if there is a significant difference in stopping power.

robbiej 07-08-2009 05:50 PM

I got the rear swaybar and really like it. I don't rally it or anything like that, but I do like to take the back roads home from work at night and get a little racy there, lol. I think it made an improvement.

misformartin 07-20-2009 03:49 PM

there is some other options out there for us besides the trd... we share the same suspension as the new yaris hb... so we can use thier swaybars.. ultra racing makes a 23mm rear sway bar which is gonna be alot stiffer than the trd one they also make a front and mid stiffineng components...

scion4us 07-20-2009 07:02 PM

Martin, quit takin over the xD and let Melissa play with it herself! LOL

misformartin 07-20-2009 07:04 PM

haha... oh she does play with it.... i mean the car... lolz... i have done nothing but show her stuff she has made all the decision herself... i mean i cant help it im addicting to modding and will buy her w/e she wants.. lolz..

scion4us 07-21-2009 11:55 AM

True Dat!! Look at Mama T's ride! Still not done after 4+ years! Just ordered 2 more pieces for it as well! She had to have a new speedo and something from Ron AKA Orataro if you get where I going with this!:boxed:

TheLittleDeviant 07-22-2009 09:43 AM

I got the rear installed on my Deviant a couple weeks ago, after driving it around I have noticed the rear end is stiffer in corners... I need new tires to really see what it can do, but so far, me likes!

YELOSUB 08-03-2009 12:41 AM

Where is the cheapest place to get the rear sway bar?

I got mine from TRD Sparks -- $153 over there right now.

misformartin 08-07-2009 10:54 AM

eff that dont get the trd get the ultra racing 23mm bar.. way stiffer than the 18 mm trd bar.

Tim.TRDSparks 08-07-2009 11:33 AM

The TRD one has a nice warranty and it doesn't mess up warranty information if installed by a dealer.

Tim

misformartin 08-07-2009 04:07 PM

the trd one has a 1 year warranty ultra racing has a 1 year warranty stame thing.... and you can take the sway bar on / off without leaving evidence that its been installed... so my vote goes to ultra racing unless your gonna finane the trd bar for an extra 1 a month : ) then go for it.. : )

YELOSUB 08-11-2009 11:31 PM

Thanks for the info guys...
